the good egg

How could I have forgotten to write about The Good Egg Shop? This is a wonderful online store featuring tons of home-grown talent from Canada (including a few of my own cards). There's lots of great stuff to buy, so take a peek and start shopping Canadian-made.

jinxed!

I knew it. I'd blather on about how awesome summer is and now I've been jinxed. This morning I woke up to the sound of rain (more pleasing than the car alarm that rang out for 35 minutes). So grey skies and rain clouds are back in the 'couv. At least I had a pretty awesome hike this past Saturday. I am horribly out of shape but it was fun and it's a reminder to get out more.

i ♥ summer

I don't want to jinx anything, but this summer really is the best summer in a long time. Hot, sunny and not even the threat of rain. Thank you, summer for being awesome.

the best thing i've seen in a long time

Today Joss Wedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) released his first of 3 episodes in his new internet series, Dr. Horrible. Let me tell you now that it is awesome. See act 1 here. The remaining episodes will be launched in the next couple of days and then will vanish July 20. Read more of the plan here.

grease be gone!

Two years ago I purchased some Bumble & Bumble colour spray for my hair. I kinda felt pressured to buy it because the hair dresser gave me some huge deal and she really pushed product on me. I gave in and purchased this stupid red powder stuff. Obviously, it was the first and last time I went to that hair dresser.

Anyway, I've very recently started washing my hair every 2 days which is kind of a big deal for me since I've got limp, flat hair that goes greasy pretty much 12 hours after shampooing. But now I'm trying to play it cool and be a grease-head every second day. So today I remembered about that B&B hair powder which is supposed to be good as "dry cleansing", meaning that it can help soak up the grease. Plus, I've got some blonde-ish high-lights so I figured spraying this red stuff on would give me some extra colour since they've really been bleached extra hard by the sun. And guess what, it works! My hair looks okay (but feels gross, but whatever) and the colour really stands out on my hair which I like. Awesome!

new! opting-in on my etsy offers

I'm starting an opt-in email list for my etsy shop where I will email out occasional sales and special offers to my customers (only once a month at the most). You won't be bombarded by emails from me, I promise!

If you are interested, please opt in by convo-ing me via etsy saying you are interested and leaving me your email address. You can also email me at jeannette@thebeautifulproject.ca. You won't be added to the list if you don't opt in, so no worries if you aren't interested.

riding in l.a.

The Crimanimalz - a crazy bike gang take to the freeways of Los Angeles to show just how inefficient traveling by car can be. Totally awesome and nuts at the same time.

hand signs on etsy: rock on & good luck

This past week, when a client's files didn't arrive when they should have, I decided to take that unexpected downtime and create a new line of cards! I photographed my hands making various hand signs (some nice, some not so nice) and then took them into Illustrator and made these cards. So far there are 2 in my shop and more to come this week. The fronts have the original illustration and the back has the name of each card. The insides are blank for your own personal message.

Purchase the Good Luck card or the Rock On card from my etsy shop. Like I said, I've got more hand signs to come...if you've got any ideas for any other hand signs, let me know!

get your own very most song

A few months ago a friend of mine told me about The Very Most. He thought I'd like them and he was right. They're a band from Boise, ID that perfects poppy, happy and sweet sounding music...perfect for summertime lazin'.

But that's not all! The Very Most needed a bit of a push to keep writing songs, so they started a fun little promotion. From now until August 31st, if you buy their latest album, they will write a song just for you! I think that it's a pretty sweet deal for 10 bucks! Now I just have to pick who or what I want my song to be about. Awesome.
