i wish i could sew

I followed a link (I can't remember where) and ended up on mame*'s Flickr set called "Clothes I made". Oh boy! Most of her outfits are made out of thrifted fabrics like bedsheets. Pretty! Such great stuff. It makes me want to learn to sew better or at least hire a seamstress to make me such pretty outfits. I could even provide the thrifted fabrics, I've got a ton of unused lovely things clogging up my craft shelves.

I've been buying amazing vintage fabrics for years hoping that one day my sewing machine (that hasn't left the closet since we moved in) will learn to make cute dresses and smocks all by itself.
I'm still waiting...

I have a sewing machine and a very basic understanding of how to sew from my years in Home Economics in Grade 7 and 8. I recently went to the new Anthropologie that opened up in Toronto and really regretted not knowing how to sew. The prices in that store were just ridiculous.

I can't sew either. It makes me want to learn though - seeing all these lovely creations. I would love to be able to make my own outfits!

Megan, that's my dream wish too! I want a magical sewing machine.

Bijoux, that's about my knowledge too. Oooh, there's an Anthro in TO? Yeah, I'm sure the prices are insane! But I love using their designs as inspiration. The embroidery/button details on my wedding dress were inspired by a skirt I loved at Anthro!
