more new cards!

Hey, have you seen all the new cards in my shop?? While I was sick, I got busy making up some new cards. Believe it or not, there is more to come. I like to think of this as my spring line, haha.

dreamin'

Yesterday the Cornelius and I spent some time looking on MLS for our dream home. Of course, we're not looking in Vancouver since the amount we can afford to pay will barely pay for a bachelor apartment in a crappy location. For awhile we were considering moving to Nelson, BC but housing prices have jumped there in the past year or so. However, if we move across the country to the very east coast (oh yes, the beautiful Maritimes), well, it's a plethora of affordable dream homes with acreage and waterfront! Originally we were thinking of Newfoundland, but figured that it would be pretty isolating what with the expensive 8 hour ferry ride to the mainland. So now we're looking at Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Cornelius vacationed there as a kid and I've never been, so we're thinking of taking a little vacation there in the next couple of years to check it out.

What I'm wondering is how many people have moved to a place where they didn't know anyone and moved into a much smaller community. Could I really trade in the awesomeness of living in such a vibrant city for a dream home in the country and a new life? Of course, there is Serena's experience of moving to rural Saskatchewan from Vancouver. Any other similar experiences out there? Any thoughts? Valuable advice?

distractions

I'm sick, I can barely speak and it's beautiful outside. Something isn't right! However, I am keeping busy and have come up with a ton of new cards that will be in the shop soon enough. I'm also discovering all kinds of cuteness, like this:

I not interested in having kids so I just stick them doing cute stuff on my blog instead!

Hey, thanks. Sincerely, The Earth.

"And of course, it goes without saying that white people who ride bikes like to talk about how they are saving the earth. If you know a person who rides to work, you should take them aside and say “Hey, thanks. Sincerely, The Earth.” Then give a thumbs up. That white person will ride home on a cloud."

Mountain Goats - Sax Rohmer #1

About 10 years ago I was a huge Mountain Goats fan but then I lost interest in them. But this new video is pretty great. One shot, lots of typography and I'm sure lots of off-camera craziness.

cake lovers love it

This weekend I posted a new card at my etsy shop. Someone you know having a birthday? Love cake? This just might be the perfect card!

In other weekend news, I watched Waitress which is pretty much my definition of a perfect movie. I now want to eat and bake a ton of crazy-named pies. I've loved Adrienne Shelly ever since I laid eyes on her in Hal Hartley's The Unbelievable Truth and was so shocked to read about her murder in 2006.

oh happy heart

Love that red heart? I do. This weekend I splurged and bought a raspberry-rhubarb pie from Capers (one of those fancy pants organic markets that seem to exist everywhere in this city). Oh my, it was delicious eaten with vanilla soy ice cream. Yum!

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day but we'll get our yaya's out today by spending the afternoon at the art gallery, eating a mighty fine dinner out and doing whatever else tickles our fancy! Tomorrow though, I've got a nice dessert planned out using some Seville oranges I picked up this past weekend.

taking the easy route

Thanks to Mighty Goods to posting my You are Rad card on their 2008 Valentine's Day round-up last week. This surge in orders has made me reconsider how I put all my orders together, so I'll be taking brave new steps to streamline my card biz and make things easier on myself (yes, I cut all cards out with my exacto knife), including getting my cards printed at a local print shop and having them cut them too!
