craft fairs are fun!

All my fears about taking part in a craft fair were silly. My friends came out, I met lots of great vendors, and lots of people who came out because they read my blog! Seriously, who knew that I had fans :) It was fun and I look forward to taking part in more fairs around town. If you came out, thanks so much for your support! It was really appreciated.

My new calendar was well received and I had a lot of other new items. Take a peek at some of the new things that are now in my shop, including these cute teddy bear gift tags, new holiday Christmas cards, retro holiday cards, and adorable acorn gift tags. The birthday calendar will come this week!

all about paper

After seeing this post on Poppytalk, I decided that my husband and I just had to make this paper craft. Cornelius has always been a fan of these little paper-cutting adventures and has lots of experience building them. Me, not so much. But it was super easy and fun to put together and now we have a cute little Parisian newsstand! I love it.

In other paper related news, I've been working on this calendar all summer long. It's a birthday calendar that you can keep for years and years...it never goes out of date! I kept it dutch-themed since this calendar seems to exist in every dutch person's house that I know. It's a dutch tradition, I guess. We have one too (Cornelius is dutch) and we keep it in the bathroom with a pen handy so that guests can write down their birthday. This way we never lose track of important dates! Keep it in the kitchen or bathroom and let your friends and family write down their birthdays or just keep it for yourself so you don't lose track of important dates. It will be in my etsy store very soon!

Also new in my shop, are these modern Eames chair gift tags (sold in a set of 6). Perfect for any occasion! More gift cards will be at the I Heart Crafts fair this Sunday. I'll be there too this time, I promise.

splurge

I've got a new card in my shop! If you've seen the illustration before, it's one I created for a vegan cookie recipe on my food blog. I always liked the illustration and figured that it was about time to turn it into a cute card...and plus, it's 100% vegan! Hee hee.

In other news, I finally cashed in a gift certificate at a local kitchen shop that I had received for my birthday back in May. Gift certificates and me don't get along. I stall, I hem and I haw. But Saturday offered a bonus knife sharpening, so I brought in my old trusted Henckels and walked away not just with a sharp blade, but a Benriner, which is a fancy Japanese mandoline. I also bought a few other things, but the mandoline was by far the most exciting and least practical purchase. And while I always remain practical, gift certificates allow for a bit of splurging I think.

shameless self promotion

Over on my greeting card website, I've got an email sign up form. This weekend, while sick with my stupid cold, I designed an HTML email newsletter. It will have news, shop updates, free downloads and specials. Sound exciting? Well it is...so go over to the site and sign up, already! I'll be sending it out shortly after I do the I Heart Crafts fair at the Ukrainian Hall in Strathcona on Sunday, September 28th. I was sick during the last craft fair and I had to get my friend to man my booth. This time, I'll be going it alone and I'm kinda nervous about it all.

achoo, i'm sick.

I woke up this morning with a nasty cold. Stuffed head and a sore throat. But I still have a lot of work to do and a bit of errands to run. So in order to make myself feel a bit better, I decided to wear a cute new shirt. I've always been in love with peter pan collars, so I was super excited to find this shirt at H&M a couple of weeks ago. It's super cute and it almost makes up for the fact that I should be in bed resting.

a new leaf

It's September so that means it's time to turn over a new leaf or something. This month always feels like the start of something new, even if I haven't been to school in years. Yesterday I went to the gym...the first time in months, actually. I'd like this to be a regular thing once again, so I'll be finding time to fit fitness back into my life.

Tomorrow I'll be heading to the airport and flying back to Ontario to visit my parents. It will be a super short visit (it's how I like' em) because too much family time equals trouble for everybody involved. Enjoy the month!
