halloweiner

This Friday is Halloween and I don't have a pumpkin yet! It's a little disquieting. We went out this weekend out to farmland but the closest we came to a pumpkin patch was a nasty tourist destination of pumpkin horrors. We're not nine, so we kept going and going. Now that I'm back in the city, I need to find an easy to carry pumpkin soon!

We're having a little horror movie sleepover on Hallow's Eve. I plan on making some honey caramel apples with some fleur du sel. It will be my first time making them and I hope they turn out okay. I just need to find some lollipop sticks or popsicle sticks and all will be golden (I hope!)

Any suggestions for cheezy horror movies? Please comment!

darwin's nightmare

We got the documentary Darwin's Nightmare from the library and it was a shake-down to watch. It's beautifully made and it will make you sad, angry and it will hopefully get you to take action in whatever way you can.The cover of the dvd is horrid (but lucky you, I found a much better cover) and the film title sucks, but I highly recommend it.

vote smart

There are some very important elections coming up and the most important thing everyone should do is vote. Sure there's the big election down south (is McCain really a serious a threat? Yikes!), but there's also a Canadian election in a couple of days. Not sure how to vote? Check out Vote for Environment which tells you how you should vote if you don't want a Conservative majority government. It uses Google maps to check out ridings in your area for some strategic voting. Yes, it's a stupid way to vote but really, I don't want a Conservative majority. Elizabeth May of the Green Party is the only leader seeking proportional representation which is the only fair way to vote. So get out there on October 14th and vote (strategically)!

i ♥ herman dune

The other day I picked up a couple tickets to see Herman Dune. He's actually not listed on the tickets since he's just the opener to Jolie Holland. I had missed seeing Herman Dune last year in Bristol, so I'm super excited to see him in Vancouver on October 19.

oh, i forgot....

a week in review

Yeah, it was a pretty good week. Lots of outings and good times. It was a bit too spendy, so this week I'm cutting back and will be back to my good ol' thrifty self. That will be good too.
