we love colors

Excuse the blurry photo but I probably couldn't contain the excitedness of my turquoise gams. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered 3 pairs of tights from WeLoveColors.com and I'm so happy I did. First off, the selection of colours are amazing and they don't have that weird shine that most tights have that I really, really hate. They are matte and the fit is nice too. I'll definitely be ordering from them again.

apple green

Right now I'm all about apple green. I spotted this messenger style bag on etsy and I love it. I'm looking for another large bag with a long shoulder strap and this might be it!

But look at these summer shoes!! I think they're pretty cute and they are made by a transplanted Montrealer living in Uruguay (via Poppytalk).

And then there's this apple green skirt that I've literally drooled over for 4 years now. I should just do the damn thing and buy it!

cute tote and other crafty things

I LOVE this scalloped tote that I saw via Creature Comforts. I'm not usually a purse gal, but giant totes are totally useful for lugging around books and groceries. I'm putting this on my birthday wish list...May's not that far away. Snow started falling last night and it's still falling this morning. Maybe spring really is far far away. I'm not pleased.

And another new card for my shop. Rainbow coloured blobs are always a good thing. More good things? I will be at the Got Craft? sale on Sunday May 3rd. Check out all the other great vendors here. I've also designed the poster and the postcards for the sale which will be printed and posted around town soon. Got Craft? has also gone mini and they will be doing a twice-a-month sale starting soon. I did the posters and postcards for that event too. Check out the postcard design here.

In other crafty news, the craft collective that I'm a part of, Hob Snobs, has been accepted to the One of a Kind craft fair happening in Vancouver in October. This is a giant event, a HUGE trade show kind of thing. I've never done anything quite so large so I'm very nervous and very excited too. At least Val and Sasha will be shaking in their boots right along with me!

more jean talk

This morning I stumbled onto this blog post and found a link to MakeYourOwnJeans.com. For hard to fit bods, this might just be the jean solution. Cornelius immediately ordered a custom shirt since he's really tall, really skinny and has a hard time finding shirts with long-enough sleeves. He was pretty excited to be able to order a reasonably priced custom shirt. And I'm sure the jeans would be so worth it too.

boots! boots! boots!!!!

This afternoon when I came home I was greeted with this:

Oh my!! The largest box of boots ever! I was pretty excited and giggled like a madwoman as I tore open the box to try on my boots. Sure, most of the snow has melted by now and those Sorels probably won't get used until next winter (unless it's snowy when I go back to Ontario in a few weeks), but they feel great. Warm, waterproof and total shit-kickers. The Tretorns are perfect for the weather and super comfortable, so I'll wear them everywhere. They even have tiny reflectors around the top, so they're great for night bike rides. All in all, I'm super excited about my online purchase from Zappo's Canada. I've just got to make sure this online shopping doesn't become a habit!

happy rad 2009!

Today is the husband's birthday. I got him this rad tee from Tiny Showcase. The artwork was done by Ray Fenwick, who is one of my favorite illustrators (from the what-must-be-an-amazing-city, Halifax).

these boots are made for winter walkin'

When I make a purchase, I don't just buy something. I hem, I haw and I worry. Yesterday I pondered and researched an online boot purchase for most of the day, wasting valuable time. It was stupid. Anyway, this morning I plonked down my credit card and bought the two boots above. Some lined rubber boots by Tretorn and some warm winter waterproof boots by Sorel off the Canadian Zappos site. Let's hope my online shoe shopping experience is a happy one...because my feet need some winter boot love.

new cards in shop

Everyone is out there making babies! Send your knocked up friend/partner this card. Spread the joy with a bit of an evil grin.

I love balloons. So I finally did a card with balloons. Happy Birthday. Simple enough.

And once again in pink cuz balloons always look better in pink.

the good egg

How could I have forgotten to write about The Good Egg Shop? This is a wonderful online store featuring tons of home-grown talent from Canada (including a few of my own cards). There's lots of great stuff to buy, so take a peek and start shopping Canadian-made.

taking the easy route

Thanks to Mighty Goods to posting my You are Rad card on their 2008 Valentine's Day round-up last week. This surge in orders has made me reconsider how I put all my orders together, so I'll be taking brave new steps to streamline my card biz and make things easier on myself (yes, I cut all cards out with my exacto knife), including getting my cards printed at a local print shop and having them cut them too!

polka dot crazy

Lately, I've been pretty obsessed by polka-dots. I saw these sheets and wept because they were freakin' expensive. Most of my sheets come from the thrift shop because I love vintage patterns, but these are so lovely and nice on the eyes. Too bad they are more than I would ever spend on sheets.

Then, I just happened to click on an email from Boden and after perusing the sale section, I made my polka-dot dreams a reality. I bought 2 things....a very lovely rain coat and a silk top. So cute! Unfortunately Boden doesn't ship to Canada from their US site (they do through their UK site but it's crazy frickin' expensive!), so I had a little helping hand in a little postal magic. Thanks Maven!

shopping finds

oh happy day!

Oh hey look, there are my O Basics clad legs! Yup, I've got calves of steel!!

I got my Sock Dreams order in a couple of days ago (such fast shipping!) and I couldn't be happier. Actually, I wasn't so happy with the Nubs tights I had ordered because when I tried them on, the crotch sat way too low to make them wearable. The site claimes that they should be good for those up to 6'...but I'm 5'9" and I'm thinking their recommendations are way too generous. 5'6" or 5'7" tops! But when I contacted the company, they let me do a refund since apparently a bunch of other shoppers were having the same problem I was. Phew! So not only does that mean, I'll be getting store credit, it also means because of the great customer service from Sock Dreams, I'll be ordering a lot more from them in the future. And hey look, the O Basics should be back in stock in all kinds of fun colours any day now. Hooray!

My mailbox was also happy today because in it was the new 2008 Nikki McClure calendar, Things to Make and Do. Lovely!!

Wow, shopping can really make me happy.
