maritimes bound
It's been a while since I've posted. I could go on about emergency hospital visits, heat waves and other mundane things, but I'm not gonna. Instead, I'll talk about our upcoming holiday. In just over a week (8 days to be precise), we'll be on a plane to Montreal. Once we've had our fill of bagels, we'll be renting a car and heading off to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI. One of our neighbours will also be in PEI at the same time and have invited us to their family cabin on the sea! Sweet. I will definitely need recommendations on what to do and see. If we have time, we might even go through Maine (Bangor rather than coastal, I think), so Maine tips too, please! Also, because we'll be gone for over 3 weeks, I'll be closing up my etsy card shop. Last day for buying will be August 4th, so if you want something, get it now. My printables shop will remain open, but operating on a "holiday schedule" - so no 24 hr deliverables. Instead, I'll check emails and send them out on a semi-regular basis.
Now, let the heat wave continue.

housesitting vacation

Check out that awesome apartment block I saw in Berlin! And because I can't get enough of vacations, I happened to stumble upon this site: housecarers.com. It sounds ideal if you want to look after a kitty in Queens, NY or take in something a bit more labour intensive...like olive picking in Tuscany for a few weeks! I heard about it through a couple who will be renting and (doing small renovations) to a house in France for a year. Sounds pretty ideal to me.

coming back from vacation is a lot of work...

Phew! Put a kettle on, because I'm going to need a whole lot of caffine. We arrived from Frankfurt on Monday night after an 11 hour flight and I'm still suffering from jetlag (going to bed after midnight and waking up at 4am is not my idea of a good time), but it's all worth it. Our trip was amazing and filled with great art, great food and lots of adventure. I've got lots to share, but it will take some time to get organized. I've spent the past day uploading photos onto flickr, but I've only uploaded up to day 7 of our trip...and we were gone for 35 days. Oi!

portland bound

In a few days I'll be heading to one of my favorite cities, Portland, OR. We'll be visiting good friends and definitely drinking lots of good beers, eating awesome meals and doing a whole lot of thrifting. Throw in a trip to some hotsprings and a hike in the Gorge and it's pretty much a dream mini-vacation. Although we'll be with our well-heeled Portland hosts, any must see/do/eat/shop tips are more than welcome!
